[Jack supposes it was his own fault for mentioning it, but he tells himself that it would have come out eventually--one way or another. He just doesn't want her to worry about him, and is sure she'd feel the same if their situations were reversed. They look after each other. It's what they do, and when one of them slips up, they don't want to concern the other with it after the fact. He knows she'll be thinking about all the things she could have done, and the most he can do is assure her that it wasn't her fault.]
