[Jack knows better than to consider themselves lucky for Gabriel's relative absence. He's familiar enough with how he operates, and can't be sure he's not just biding his time, waiting for the opportune moment. It means that he and Ana need to be prepared for anything, at any time.

[Jack is getting ahead of himself, though this is most certainly something he should have done a while ago, when he first laid claim to this place. Perhaps there's a part of him that doesn't want to believe Reaper would be so underhanded and petty as to sabotage his livelihood here.]
( As much as Ana wants an answer to all of this she's not looking forward to the idea of the numerous tests that will come. No doubt he knows what that's like too )
